Mother // Child are dolls that reference the performance of black motherhood in the face of grief. The mother portrayed in this papercut is a presence of awe and strength as black womanhood demands, but look closer. She is in tears, something you would not expect a paragon of strength and wisdom to display. Her daughter holds her mother comforting her through the pain. 2018.
